Murano® Industrial IoT Platform

Murano is the Industrial IoT platform for connected equipment.

Device connectivity, device and data management, application enablement, business logic, and integrations for commercial and industrial equipment. OEMs and operators run it in production today.

Named in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Global Industrial IoT Platforms six times since 2019

Platform capabilities

Murano covers each layer from device connection to business-system integration. You can put equipment and users on it without first hiring front-end, backend, analytics, platform, and DevOps engineers, and your team stays focused on the equipment you sell.

Built for industrial equipment

Industrial fleets mix new and decades-old equipment, sit on unreliable networks, and often can't touch the control system. Murano is built around those conditions.

Existing controllers and SCADA

Read from PLCs, controllers, and SCADA systems over Modbus, OPC UA, BACnet, CANopen, J1939, or local MQTT through ExoEdge or partner gateways. Access is read-only, with no changes to the control system.

Mixed fleets

Wireless sensors, PLCs, gateways, embedded products, and other device clouds run side by side in one fleet, with no lock-in to one hardware vendor.

Intermittent connectivity

ExoEdge and other clients buffer data locally while offline and send it when the connection returns.

Sites off the public internet

The On-Prem option runs the full platform in air-gapped environments.

Multi-tenant for OEMs, dealers, and customers

One deployment serves your whole business. You onboard your own customers and their equipment, and each customer sees only their own sites and assets.

  • Customer isolation

Each customer's users see only their own sites and assets. Your team sees across all of them.

  • Roles at every level

Company roles (Admin, Developer, Tech) for your team, and customer roles (Manager, Viewer) for theirs.

  • Under your name

Customers use the application under your brand. The same deployment can also serve internal teams.

Architecture and scale

Murano runs on a microservices architecture: independent services for device connectivity, data pipeline, time-series storage, content, and scripting, communicating over events. The architecture is the same at 100 devices or 1 million.

Device connections

A 10-device pilot and a fleet of hundreds of thousands across customer sites run on the same elastic, multi-region infrastructure, with no re-platforming in between.

Data management

Signals are stored as asset data with consistent units and context: time-series history for recent data and a data lake for the long term.

High-throughput pipelines

A no-code rules and transformation engine turns raw signals into asset status in real time, at whatever rate your equipment reports.

Security and compliance

The same controls apply in Exosite Cloud, dedicated hosting, and on-prem.

Encryption

Data is encrypted at rest, in motion, and in use across the platform.

Device identity

Certificate-based device identity and TLS provisioning, using your PKI providers or Exosite-managed certificates.

Access control

Tenant isolation and role-based access down to the asset level keep each customer's data separate.

Single sign-on

Users sign in through your corporate identity provider.

Audit logs

A record of user and system activity for review and troubleshooting.

GDPR

Personal data is handled in line with GDPR requirements.

Operated by Exosite

Exosite's team runs Murano day to day: uptime, scaling, security, and upgrades. Your engineers don't need to staff platform operations.

24/7 operations

Exosite's DevOps team handles cloud deployment, uptime, and scaling.

Continuous updates

New platform features and upgrades roll out without a project on your side.
